SDTV stands for short for standard-definition television, one mode of operation of digital television whereby the broadcaster transmits pictures with detail similar to, or slightly better than, today's analog television. Since the picture contains less information, there is "room" in the digital signal for up to six standard-definition programs to be broadcast simultaneously (multicasting). HDTV stands for high definition television. Offers six times the resolution of current TV and a full 60 frames per second resolution which is twice the vertical and horizontal resolution of current NTSC analog television broadcasting.
