The BCM5365 and BCM5365P are the world's most integrated secured switch processors that provide low-cost, scalable, high-performance, hardware-accelerated security solutions for wired and wireless residential gateway and small-office/home-office (SOHO) applications. The BCM5365 and BCM5365P are the first offerings within this new Sentry5 product family and represent the first silicon devices in the industry to integrate key technologies such as Fast Ethernet switching, IPsec processing and MIPS processing into a single router system-on-a-chip.

In the past, original equipment manufacturers (OEMs) used multiple chips to implement home and small-office router and gateway applications. A typical router or gateway system previously required four or more chips to address Ethernet switching, MIPS processing and security. With the advanced architecture of the new Sentry5 product family, a single router system-on-a-chip integrates the functionality of four chips into one, significantly reducing form-factor, power consumption, and cost in a home and small-office router or gateway.
