Broadcom's BCM7572 high definition (HD) DTA cable STB box solution features HD, a 1GHz cable tuner and HDMI capabilities in an ultra small form factor to enable North American cable service providers to transition analog subscribers directly to HD programming. Broadcom's BCM7572 solution paves the way for the expanded network capacity that operators require in order to provide additional HD content and more value-added services such as HD video-on-demand (VoD) and higher speed DOCSIS® 3.0 data and voice services.

- An SCTE-40+ 1GHZ silicon cable tuner exceeds the SCTE-40 specification and performance requirements demanded by North American cable operators
- Further integration includes a QAM demodulator, a highly efficient MIPS32®-class CPU, a data transport processor, a programmable audio core, four video and two audio digital-to-analog converters, and peripheral interfaces for a variety of STB control/receiver functions
- An integrated HDMI transmitter and HD MPEG2/AVC decoder to drive high quality HD displays from an ultra small form factor
- Advanced security supporting a wide range of card and cardless security devices
- A x16 DDR2 memory controller and serial flash enable the minimum footprint for an HD DTA
- An integrated standby power management controller to enable low power modes and allow for <100mW when in standby mode, exceeding Energy Star requirements
